Michael Fawcett, PhD, the ecologist who has worked with environmental programs at Chanslor Ranch for the last 16 years has advised us of this years coho salmon release. At 11:00 on Monday, December 19th, several organizations will participate in the release of coho salmon in Salmon Creek. Please let us know if you wish to attend. It is an exciting experience. The U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, National Marine Fisheries Service, The Nature Conservancy, State of California Department of Fish and Game, Gold Ridge RCD, Salmon Creek School, Occidental Arts and Ecology Center, Dragonfly Stream Enhancement, Salmon Creek Watershed Council, Prunuske Chatham, Inc.
This year will also be the year that the coho from the first release return to Salmon Creek at Chanslor Ranch to spawn upstream.
