Kayak Lessons at Salmon Creek Sunday November 15th

Third Annual Coho Salmon Release at Salmon Creek on Chanslor Ranch December 19th

Michael Fawcett, PhD, the ecologist who has worked with environmental programs at Chanslor Ranch for the last 16 years has advised us of this years coho salmon release.  At 11:00 on Monday, December 19th, several organizations will participate in the release of coho salmon in Salmon Creek.  Please let us know if you wish to attend.   It is an exciting experience.  You can view the December 2008 release on You Tube.  Great underwater shots.

The U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, National Marine Fisheries Service, The Nature Conservancy, State of California Department of Fish and Game, Gold Ridge RCD, Salmon Creek School, Occidental Arts and Ecology Center, Dragonfly Stream Enhancement, Salmon Creek Watershed Council, Prunuske Chatham, Inc.

This year will also be the year that the coho from the first release return to Salmon Creek at Chanslor Ranch to spawn upstream.

CAMPING IS AVAILABLE YEAR-ROUND AT CHANSLOR RANCH IN BODEGA BAY

NEW MASCOT FOR BODEGA BAY OUTDOOR ADVENTURES AT CHANSLOR RANCH

In training for accompanying rides and attending events, Senior “Elmo” Badonkadonk the miniature donkey has joined the stables along with his owner Erin Ury.  He is worth a trip to the property whether you are coming for horseback riding or just to take a drive to the Coast.

While only 2 1/2 feet high, he is fast as lightening and became instantly the leader of Sarahbeth’s herd at the Ranch.

BODEGA BAY OUTDOOR ADVENTURES HAY RIDES BEGIN FEBRUARY 1ST, 2012

Smell the oats and alfalfa as you ride the ranch’s hay wagon along ocean view trails on the way to see the cattle herd or wildlife in the wetlands.  Your group might also want to reserve the hay wagon for a ride to an evening bonfire,  a riverside picnic or a group camp out.   Rides will leave from the barn and head out to the ranch and wildlife preserve.  We will post the weekend and holiday schedule for hay rides and will begin taking group reservations November 1st.   If you subscribe to this newsletter you will be sent the information automatically.  A 45 minute ride will be $10 however a large variety of custom rides are available for your group including evening rides.  Hay rides will also be a part of our single parent and Adventure Club fishing events for Spring 2012.
